Kindness Quilt: A gift for a new little blessing from Carried Away Quilting

In 2020 I joined a mystery sew along hosted by Sweet Treasures Quilts called the Kindness Project. The goal was to make a quilt and gift it to someone affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. I finished my quilt top and then tucked it away . . . pondering who to gift it to.  I knew the answer would come to my heart, and it did.

Brenda Riddle's "Sophie" collection ships to stores from Carried Away Quilting

Brenda Riddle’s new “Sophie” fabric collection has finally shipped to quilt stores! Sophie is the sweet pink and green collection that I used for my newest quilt pattern, By the Hours. With delicate florals and cheerful gingham prints, "Sophie" is perfect for a baby quilt or any spring sewing project you may have in mind.


My By the Hours pattern is a two-for-one, as it includes instructions to make both the baby quilt and the coordinating nursery pillow. The quilt finishes at 38 1/2” x 44 1/2” and the pillow finishes at 16 1/2” square.

New pattern: "By the Hours" baby quilt and coordinating pillow from Carried Away Quilting

Several years ago, I made a simple patchwork quilt of five-inch squares for the new granddaughter of a dear friend. I was tickled to learn that the baby’s mother was using this quilt to track her daughter’s growth!  Each month she took a photograph of the baby on the patchwork quilt, documenting how she stretched in length. This was this inspiration for my newest quilt pattern, By the Hours.

Waiting For the Right Fabrics and NTT from My Quilt Infatuation

Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, friends!  I have a brand new quilt top to share with you today, and I am so very excited about it.  I designed this pattern over two years ago and at the time, I had a very specific feel in mind for this quilt.  I really wanted the fabrics to have a certain vibe, and I couldn't immediately find a collection that felt right.  So, the pattern stayed in my design folder where I kind of forgot about it for awhile.
